Tom Herriman's Journal is produced using Journalmaker™ from Clark Internet Publishing. The content is stored in a database, and pages are composed on the fly when you request them. This keeps the site up to date, and all changes are reflected immediately. The process frees me from my desk and my computer and lets me edit the site from any web browser - like the ones in suburban Kampala - and I need no special hardware, software or special technical skills (no FTP, etc.), because the page layouts are highly automated and all the content is maintained by Journalmaker.
